Project Summary
This project aims to develop a hydrophone array for identification of underwater acoustic vibrations, benefiting the Australian Defence Force.
A novel photonics-based technology for underwater maritime threat detection using machine learning and optical fibre sensing.
This proposed technique has the potential to provide real-time information at key strategic locations such as naval bases and cities, or even as a national alert system, due to the long sensing lengths possible with optical fibres without requiring remote electrical power.
